Matching a Litter Box to Your Cat

Posted by Bob Newman

For a cat’s health, the first priority for cat owners should be choosing the most appropriate litter box.  Since there are a quite a few of litter boxes available on the market, it can sometimes be difficult for cat owners to determine the most appropriate litter box for their kitten or cat.  In this post are some suggestions designed to help pet owners get an idea of which cat litter box they should buy for their cat.

A leading consideration for purchasing a litter box is the pet owners lifestyle.  Cat owners that are usually spend a lot of time away from home typically find a self cleaning litter box is helpful for trying to keep the litter box fresh and clean.  Other cat owners will be content with a hooded litter box or kitten litter pan that may be scooped if using clumping cat litter.  Every kind of cat litter box has its pluses and disadvantages and there is not perfect product to meet the needs of every cat.

Automatic litter boxes do generate great appeal to pet owners.  However, these types of cat litter boxes use a raking system to scoop clumped cat litter shortly after the cat has left the box.  A sensor, usually mounted on the side, starts the raking cycle around 0 minutes after the cat leaves the box.  One may think that an automatic litter box is an ideal solution for a cat, but during the raking cycle clumped litter and feces often can get lodged in the rake.  Unnoticed, this may waste a lot of litter and create a mess for the cat owner to clean up.

A basic hooded or unhooded litter box may be used with or without clumping cat litter.  Clumping cat litter should be scooped each day to provide the cleanest litter box environment as possible for the cat.  Disposable or organic litter used in one of these litter boxes should be changed often, and rarely do these kinds of litter provide as much odor control as clumping cat litter.

A significant part of deciding which type of litter box is most appropriate for a cat or kitten is the height and size of the litter box.  Kitten owners should purchase a litter pan which is smaller then most adult litter boxes.  Even adult cats can find it hard to enter and exit a litter box that has not been sized appropriately.  Old or obese cats can find it difficult to enter high litter boxes that they once could use without any problems.

To help cats to use their litter box, it is especially important that pet owners determine which kind of litter box is best for their pet.  By purchasing the appropriate litter box, pet owners can make sure that their kitten or cat can use a clean litter box at all times.

Why A Good Quality Dry Cat Food Is Ideal For Your Feline Friend

Posted by Bob Newman

I’m a loving cat owner and I always try and do what’s right for my cat. She has often loved wet foods however just lately started to shun away from it. My partner and i wondered what was wrong… does she be suffering with a tummy upset perhaps or does she just no longer like the flavour? A trip to the veterinarians, which coincided along with her annual vaccinations led to the exposure that my dearest moggie had a huge build up of plaque and tartar on her teeth.  Furthermore, her gums were so irritated they were nearly on the point of bleeding! Of course, I was mortified. My lovely moggy had been avoiding her food simply because she was essentially in pain consuming the stuff! So what on earth can I do to be able to rectify the problem? Well, the vet advised that she might have her teeth cleaned tomorrow by the veterinarian registered nurse. Having said that, he informed me that this can be stress filled for stressed kitties and not a thing that should be continued frequently.

The vet offered me a 2nd course of action, which in my opinion appeared to be far more straight forward and rather simple; to change the food I’d been providing from wet food to dried food. Now, I’d previously thought of dry cat food as being a definite substandard option. After all, I really don’t eat dried meats so just why should my moggy? Nonetheless, apparently , a high quality dry cat food is actually significantly healthier for the moggy as opposed to food you get from a tin or foil pouch. The rough character of dried cat food essentially acts just like a little tooth brush inside your cat’s mouth.

Therefore, I chose a large sack of dried chicken food and went home. I had been unclear about exactly how my cat might react but because she had had a good dosage of painkillers plus a extremely empty belly she barely appeared to detect the difference. Actually, she wolfed down the whole bowl.  I have kept her on the dehydrated foods and now have found a fantastic brand that produces a product jam-packed full of meat (kittens and cats require higher amounts of protein compared to canines). Now, when I have her teeth checked the reaction is favourable. They’re much cleaner when compared with before plus the moggy is a lot happier, hence it’s dry food for us from today on.
