Okay, let me start off by saying something you’d probably never expect to hear from someone writing an article about cats. I am not a cat person!
And I also have to confess that that all changed the day I met Tyco.
Tyco was the new cat that my eldest son wanted more than anything. And even though I am a dog guy, I could see that this new addition to our home was something that was going to happen. I also very quickly realized that getting Tyco would mean finding a never ending source for the cheapest cat supplies.
Knowing a thing or two about ecommerce, it became very clear very quickly that my search for these cheap cat supplies would land me online as online cat supplies distributors do not carry all of the overhead carried by their offline competitors.
Simple searches on Google for “cheap cat supplies” turned up the usual suspects, but I wanted more. I wanted someone to be available should there be a problem with anything in my order. I basically wanted someone to take ownership of the items I would be buying blindly.
The biggest advantage to being able to buy cheap cat supplies online is the money saved and the time not needed. The downside being the not knowing who can be called if a mistake is made.
In the end, we bought the flea and tick collars, the fake mice toys and the scratching poles…all of which were delivered as advertised.
After having gone through the process and having gotten all of my cheap cat stuff over the web, I still marvel at how the offline distributors are ever able to keep up.

Urinary problems are amongst the most frequent cat health care problems our feline pets experience. Some illnesses, undesirable behaviours and diseases that we see most often in our feline friends are related to urinary problems. The more serious urinary problems in cats include Cystitis, or Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease, spraying and renal failure.
Cystitis and Feline Lower Urinary tract Disease are general terms which refer to the cat health care problems caused by an inflammation in the urinary bladder. The symptoms include irritation and inflammation affecting urination, an increase in the frequency of urination and the urgency of it, general difficulty urinating and evidence of blood in the urine. The causes and triggers of this cat health care problem are varied but this problem is often triggered when food causes urinary crystals to form bladder stones. Furthermore, overweight cats are commonly affected because they are more prone to developing cat health care problems generally. However, there is no need for undue concern: this can be treated easily by a vet.
On the other hand, spraying is more likely to be considered a problematic behaviour than an actual cat health care issue. When male cats are eight or nine months old they will become more territorial and exhibit new behaviours. This includes marking his territory- your house- with very strong smelling urine. The smell is very difficult to remove. With this behaviour will come other masculine, tom cat behaviour, including fighting with other cats, which can cause cat health care problems: this can be avoided by neutering the cat.
Kidney failure is another associated cat health care problem which is commonly associated with middle aged and senior cats. This is because cat urine is very concentrated and cats do not pass urine exceptionally often, meaning that their kidneys work very hard. It is therefore not uncommon for the kidneys of older cats to begin to fail. The symptoms of renal disease in cats are increased thirst and urination, with vomiting, disorientation and weight loss as the disease progresses. The causes of this particular cat health care problem can also be varied, including cancer, infections, ingestion of toxins or, sadly, old age.
